HEROES IN ACTION
kuala selangor communities clean up nature park
This inaugural Gotong Royong Perdana was carried out at Kuala Selangor Nature Park in conjunction with World Tapir Day on 27 April. It is also part of the park's Wetlands Day celebration, as KSNP is an important wetlands site that is host to a range of wildlife, especially migratory birds. A good number of volunteers showed up for the 8am clean-up, under the aegis of the Kuala Selangor District Council, as well as sponsors, supporters and students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, International Islamic University Malaysia and Kolej Perhebat. Together, they cleaned and cleared -- taking care of fallen leaves and overgrowth, dismantling dilapidated infrastructure and refurbishing visitor areas -- as well as worked on KSNP's mangrove nursery. Present at the event were Kuala Selangor YDP Hjh Noraini Roslan, MNS Vice-President Professor Dr Ahmad Ismail, MNS Executive Director I.S. Shanmugaraj and representatives of local authorities.
