The Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) on 14th April 2016 launched Lend A Hand For Conservation, an exciting campaign to encourage all Malaysians to help Mother Nature. With the tagline “For Nature LAH!” and callsign “4NatureLAH” across social media platforms, Lend A Hand is an umbrella campaign that allows the public and corporates to be affiliated with MNS, the nation’s oldest environmental non-governmental organisation, on any programme, big or small, related to conservation.
Highlighting the fact that anyone, regardless of age, gender or background, can play a part
in protecting the Earth, Lend A Hand seeks to publicise these activities on its platforms – website, Facebook, Instagram, as well as MNS’s publications and during exhibitions.
The main objective of the campaign, says Balu Perumal, MNS Head of Conservation, is to recognise the country’s “Local Environmental Heroes” who lend a hand in protecting the planet’s precious resources, whatever the size of their project.
“Whether individuals, groups, government departments or the private sector carrying out CSR programmes, they are welcome to partner with MNS on their
activities, or send us a report of their completed projects. The participants will receive a Local Environmental Hero certificate and their activities will be featured on our sites,” he says.
Such publicity, he adds, will assist in fulfilling the campaign’s other objectives, namely to raise awareness about our planet’s limited resources; to encourage environmentalism among Malaysians; and to publicise MNS’s conservation efforts.
“We want to create a community of conservationists, and this platform will hopefully lead to more local environment heroes among our population,” he says.
